Top Celebrities Share Their Classic Cars With The Auto World

Cameron Eittreim March 11, 2021

Celebrities are known for flaunting their wealth and personal belongings, and vehicles are often at the top of this list. Not every celebrity has a high-priced collection like George Foreman and Jay Leno do, but most celebrities have at least one nice vehicle. The classic car market has been exploding in the past two decades with the rise of reality TV shows related to classic vehicles.

It has become a right of passage to own a customized or restored vehicle. Internet stars like the Jenner sisters are known for driving around in a custom ’68 Camaro. So we’re going to take a look at some of the most notable classic cars that these celebrities enjoy via The News Wheel.

25: 1965 Ford Mustang – Will Smith

Boasting a massive net worth is one thing, but Smith also has a knack for collecting cars. His most notable is one he drives very often – a 1965 Ford Mustang. This particular Mustang has an original, mint-condition red paint job. Original to the car is also the interior which has retained most of the charm that made these cars stand out. There are no notable performance upgrades to the car either, even the rims remain the same. Ford sold millions of these Mustangs and it’s the car that firmly cemented brand loyalty.

Smith, like many in his generation, grew up in a time when music and car culture was fused. This was a great time when many of the classics were still affordable, and the star snatched up a clean example of a Mustang. Prices on this generation of the Mustang have started to peak, although still outpaced the Camaro by quite a bit.

Iron Man can’t say no to a clean Corvette and Robert Downey Jr. has an amazing Corvette Stingray. This was a strange generation of the Corvette because it was still in a transitional period. Needless to say, the Stingray has a great standard powerplant. The resale value of these Corvettes has gone through the roof, and you can barely find them on the open market.

Downey Jr. hasn’t done much to his Corvette to make it stand out from the standard model. Keeping a car like this one as close to stock is the best thing to do. When you start adding a lot of modifications to the car it greatly devalues it. Few cars have the rarity of the Corvette Stingray and that makes it a special part of the automotive world.

23: Ford Galaxie 500 – Hugh Laurie

The Galaxie is underrated when you think about cars from the 60s and 70s, but it was one of the best deals that drivers could get. The Galaxie 500 had a 351 V8 engine notable for its performance. But the car just didn’t catch on with consumers the same way that the GTO and other notable cars did. The ability to order the Galaxie 500 in a convertible version is probably the most popular trim level.

Laurie has exquisite taste in cars. But the Ford Galaxie 500 is not your average car that a celebrity would choose, which lends a bit of individuality and style to it. Cost-wise, the Ford Galaxie 500 has remained one of the affordable options you can still find on the classic car market.

It’s perhaps no surprise that one of the most popular pop stars in the world would choose the GTO. For decades the Pontiac GTO has been the pinnacle of what we know as being the “muscle car”. The original GTO was a new concept for GM at a time when the Pontiac division was on the way down the toilet. Another interesting thing is that John Delorean was the designer of the GTO and pioneered the Pontiac division back from the brink of demise.

Timberlake has kept his GTO pretty stock from the photos that we’ve seen in public. The convertible is a rare classic, especially in black and red trim like his. The valuation of the GTO is among the most expensive on the classic car market. That doesn’t mean that you should avoid the GTO, but it’s going to cost a pretty penny to get one.

Chevrolet El Camino - Lady Gaga

21: Chevy El Camino – Lady Gaga

When it comes to a megastar like Lady Gaga, you’d almost expect she would drive something like a Mercedes Benz or a Bentley. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. For a girl who started out playing jazz in small cafes around New York, Lady Gaga favors a hard-hitting black El Camino. And if you think she went all out to customize this one, you’d be wrong again. It is as inconspicuous as you could imagine, with custom torque thrust rims and a red interior.

The El Camino has cemented itself as one of the most unique cars to ever come out of GM. Sales were respectable and the valuations on these are going through the roof. Naturally, there are plenty of upgrades and engine swaps that you can do to bring your El Camino into the 21st century as well.

The Kardashians have an almost unlimited supply of money, so what does a girl like Kendall drive in a city like LA? A customized classic Camaro. The Camaro is naturally done up with a few custom features such as aftermarket rims and a deep pearl black paint job. Aside from that the Camaro notably has upgrades under the hood, as well as custom exhaust. These upgrades are tasteful and don’t detract too much from the overall aesthetic of the car.

Nevertheless, the Camaro does a great job of showcasing the strengths that the platform had to offer. Camaros are excellent performance cars and with a little bit of work, you can get a lot out of them. Jay Leno has been teaching Kendall a thing or two as he has helped her purchase other classic cars as well.

Because Kendall has built up an admiration for car collector Jay Leno, he’s shown her the ropes when it comes to picking out a classic. For her second vehicle, we have a Cadillac El Dorado, which at one time was the pinnacle of personal luxury. The El Dorado is a lot different than other cars that were made around this period. The sheer curb weight of the vehicle makes it a massive undertaking to go for a ride. The performance matches the massive weight of the vehicle.

Jenner has kept the El Dorado as close to stock as you can get, other than a pink paint job. The wheels are in line with what you’d expect and the engine has notable upgrades. Still, we think that her Cadillac El Dorado will stand the test of time as a true classic. Celebrities tend to go overboard with exotic cars so it’s nice to see someone who has a taste in the classics.

Another car in this celebrity’s collection is her baby blue 1956 Corvette. If you’re at all familiar with the Corvette family, then you realize this is an instant classic. The valuation of these Corvette models has begun to hit a ceiling, albeit a high one at that. Nevertheless, if you are a fan of the Corvette then you for sure need to drive the ‘56 model. From the curvaceous lines to the sheer ’50s styling, this generation of the Corvette is unmistakable.

We can tell that Leno has been giving the young Kardashian a lot of training because this Corvette is about as immaculate as you can get. It will be interesting to see how her collection advances over the next couple of years. This Corvette is a large step in the right direction, a classic that Chevy lovers know far and wide.

Nick Jonas' Ford Mustang

17: Nick Jonas’ Ford Mustang

The Jonas Brothers had a long streak of number-one hits, so naturally, all that money has gone to good use. One of Nick’s hobbies is collecting classic cars and his Ford Mustang is among his favorite. The first-generation Mustang was known as the car that started the Pony car era, and the clean styling is still attractive to this day. So much so that Ford revitalized the classic styling for the 2005 model year with the retro-inspired model. With the torque thrust rims, Nick has kept the Mustang in clean condition.

Finding an original Muscle car is never an easy task, but Nick had some help from the team over at West Coast Customs. In addition to that, the Jonas brothers collectively own a couple of other notable classic muscle cars as well. Most musicians have some sort of love for a classic muscle car so it’s no surprise that Jonas enjoys driving around in this Mustang.

16: 1963 Chevrolet Impala – Ice Cube

Ice Cube had a rough life growing up, and when he hit the big time, one of his favorite cars was the 1963 Chevrolet Impala. Early West Coast hip-hop culture was heavily entwined with the lowrider culture of the 1970s and ’80s. Likewise, the rappers who grew up in this culture were influenced by it as well such as Ice Cube and Dr. Dre. It was only natural that one of ‘Cube’s’ dream cars was a 1963 Chevy Impala.

The ’63 models, in particular, are highly coveted in the lowrider community, and even finding a junked one can be hard. The prices are high and if you can find a stock model you are in for something special. The Impala was a sedan that combined luxury with substance and the driving experience was top-notch at the time.

Few roadsters are as iconic as the highly sought-after Shelby Cobra. The product of Carroll Shelby‘s well-known love for speed, the Cobra was designed to provide drivers with an exhilarating experience. The short wheelbase coupled with the powerful V8 engine allows the Cobra to maneuver around twists and turns like nothing before it. Because of a rise in “kit cars” there is an influx of replica Cobras on the market right now. Nevertheless, you’d be hard-pressed to find something that drives as nice as the original Cobra.

Leno has a massive collection of cars, enough to fill a personal museum. Thus, the Cobra is not the most exciting car that he’ll ever drive. But, in retrospect, it is probably the most exciting car in a lot of ways. It’s interesting to see the king of a late night out and about in his unique rendition of the Cobra.

14: 1969 Dodge Hemi Charger – Bill Goldberg

There was a period when professional wrestlers were heavy in the custom car market. Whether it was Hulk Hogan or Bill Goldberg, wrestlers’ love of classic cars is well-documented. Goldberg loves pure muscle, and most of his collection is made up of hard-hitting muscle cars like the Yenko Camaro. For a sweet Saturday cruise, Goldberg likes to hop in his 1969 Hemi Charger. The Charger was an excellent car for Dodge that brought the brand back into the limelight.

While the car wasn’t as light as a Camaro or a Mustang, it cemented Mopar as a serious player in the muscle car business. All of these cars were heavy in the ’70s, but the Charger was able to invoke a sort of pride within its owners. The valuation for these original Chargers has gone through the roof as well.

Whether being known for being married to Miley Cyrus or starring in the modern-day remake of Independence Day, Liam Hemsworth is quite a famous actor for someone who only just turned 30. His Mustang Mach-1 was a special-edition model that hit the market after the success of the initial launch. Aside from the trademark green color, there is a lot to like about the Mustang, most of which revolves around the special-edition color scheme and performance.

The Mach-1 is only part of a series of special edition Mustang models that came out during this generation of the car. Liam has kept his car fairly stock aside from a striped paint job and a customized interior. Prices for the Mach-1 have plateaued for the time being, which has made the market for these cars quite favorable.

12: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda – Kevin Hart

When it comes to well-known celebrities, Hart has been on a solid run for a decade now. With hit show after hit show, the comedian has shown that he can act in a variety of situations. His net worth is equally as impressive and his car collection has grown to reflect this. The Hemi Cuda was involved in a crash in 2019 and has since been destroyed, but before that, it was one of Hart’s favorite vehicles.

The Cuda was the focal point of the Plymouth lineup and it ended up being a massively popular addition to the muscle car industry. To this day the Hemi Cuda is among one the most popular muscle cars on the market. Prices have been soaring and finding one of these in its original condition is becoming more difficult.

11: 1970 Plymouth Superbird – Jeff Dunham

Dunham has managed to build himself up as one of the premier ventriloquists in the world. His comedy routine is among one of the most popular and highest-grossing in the country. The Superbird is another historic vehicle from the Plymouth lineup and one that looked surprisingly well compared to what else was on the market. Plymouth had a unique slot in the overall hierarchy of the Chrysler brands. Performance was what the brand did well during this period, which is why the Superbird was so popular.

Aside from that the Superbird also came in a unique color scheme, and the added spoiler was the focal point of the car. The Superbird won numerous championships on the NASCAR circuit and Richard Petty was one of the pioneers of the car. Few cars have made as much of an impression as the Superbird did.

10: 1981 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 – Matthew McConaughey

Few movie stars have made as much of a following as McConaughey has. His muscle car of choice is his 1981 Chevrolet Camaro Z28. The second generation of the Camaro is the least popular of all of the models, as this was during the fuel embargo of the ’70s. Nevertheless, there were some good things about the second-generation Camaro. The interesting thing about the Camaro is the unique black paint job and the t-tops. While McConaughey is a spokesperson for Lincoln, he enjoys classic Chevrolets.

With his calm attitude and his penchant for style, this Camaro goes right along with him. The special thing about the second-generation Camaro is that it is still an affordable option. But the prices will continue to rise, and this is one of the few clean examples left. As with any classic car, the second-generation Camaro has shortcomings and great points.

9: 1967 Chevy C10 Restomod – Jay Leno

Leno’s collection of cars is massive and he has all different types of cars in it. Chevrolets have a special meaning to him as these are what he drove growing up. The 1967 Chevy C10 Restomod is built for fun. The engine swap has given the truck a massive amount of horsepower, which enabled the boost in performance. Generally speaking, these Chevy trucks were not the fastest, but Leno did some things to fix that.

The comedian is known for actually tinkering on his vehicles, so an engine swap isn’t anything. When you see the finished product the 1967 Chevy C10 Restomod is a stand-out vehicle for several reasons. With its interesting design and fun-to-drive characteristics, the 1967 Chevy C10 Restomod stands out in his collection.

8: 1958 Corvette – George Clooney

Most leading men in Hollywood all have good taste in classic cars, but George Clooney takes it a step further. Similar to Kendall Jenner’s ‘Vette, George Clooney has kept his Corvette fairly stock as well. The 1958 Corvette is a car that was designed to meet the needs of consumers who wanted the fun to drive a roadster. Even by today’s standards, the Corvette has a stellar amount of performance with minimal modification needed. You can get a lot out of these cars and the value is extremely high.

With a few upgrades, you can get the 1958 Corvette to the next level of performance. There are a vast array of performance upgrades, many of which can be bolted on. The exterior colors from the factory were also very appealing, and finding an original model isn’t as hard as you’d think.

7: AC Cobra – Christian Audigier

Similar to the Shelby Cobra, the AC Cobra is the same car with numerous performance upgrades. What it takes to get your hands on one of these is as simple as getting to the museum. The AC Cobra has a beautiful blue and striped paint job, which makes it stand out from the crowd. The supercharger is a nice touch that these Cobras came with, and engine upgrades and swaps are common things to do.

Christian has stayed the course and kept his Cobra as close to stock as he could. You can often see the star driving around Hollywood. The car has a lot of attributes that make it very appealing for anyone who is into performance and real driving.

He has entered the Ford Falcon XB in quite a few driving competitions and he continues to do well to this day.

With the right upgrades, the Ford Falcon XB can be a notable road car and a classic at the same time. The design of the car was overshadowed at a time when the Mustang and the GTO were massively popular and influential cars.

5: 1953 Cadillac Fleetwood – Dita Von Teese

Von Teese is another celebrity who has indulged in the classic car business. Her Cadillac Fleetwood is a prime example of how someone can showcase a classic. The earliest model Cadillacs were known for their luxury and performance. The Fleetwood was the pinnacle of the Cadillac lineup at a time when the brand was the premier luxury brand on the market. For sheer driving pleasure, the Fleetwood is known for quality. Von Teese has done a few notable things to hers such as aftermarket rims and a new paint job.

In addition to that, the performance upgrades have given Fleetwood more performance than you’d think. We’d love to see more examples of what she’d do to her future classic cars. This particular Fleetwood is a well-designed example of one of Cadillac’s premier luxury vehicles.

Few people have had such a meteoric rise to fame as Affleck did. He started in simple flicks and moved his way up to being one of the biggest names in Hollywood. When he isn’t dating an A-list superstar or filming his next hit film, you can find him driving his 1966 Chevelle SS. The car is one of the most popular muscle cars in the world and with good reason. GM was hitting on all cylinders when the Chevelle came into play, and it offered a relatively good amount of performance for the price.

The Chevelle is among one of the most expensive classic cars that you can get your hands on. Affleck has kept his Chevelle fairly stock except for a beautiful cherry red paint job and aftermarket rims. When it comes to restoring a classic car like this, it’s always better to keep as close to the original styling as possible.

3: Kenny Wayne Shepherd’s Xtreme Lee

The General Lee Dodge Charger is one of the most iconic muscle cars ever, but actor Kenny Wayne Shepard made a modern rendition. His modern take on a classic has a new set of modern racing wheels as well as a much smoother paint job. The overall look of the Xtreme Lee is very clean and subtle, but it does what you can expect it to do. The Charger was always one of the best-performing muscle cars on the road. With these modern upgrades, he has been able to cultivate a classic that can still perform well.

The look of the Xtreme Lee is much more contemporary than the original Charger that was featured in the movies. Nevertheless, this is one of the only examples in the world so if you wanted to pick one of these up it would be next to impossible.

2: Lewis Hamilton’s Mustang Shelby GT500 Eleanor

Naturally, if you are the best IndyCar driver in the world, you’re going to have an extensive car collection. Lewis Hamilton takes his collection seriously, and one such car is the GT500 Eleanor that he owns. Nothing about this Mustang is stock and that’s alright because it is a screaming example of a great car. With a beautiful candy paint job, there is no way you’ll miss this car coming down the road. The aftermarket rims stand out from the crowd and the stance look of the car helps things out.

Don’t just think that this Mustang is only for looks because the Coyote swapped engine makes it a performance powerhouse. Lewis has done a lot to stand out from the crowded sea of drivers on the IndyCar circuit. His Mustang likewise is also an impressive example of what you can do right with a classic car.

1: Joe Rogan’s Corvette C2 Stingray Restomod

Rogan made a name for himself with the hi show Fear Factor, and although he hosts a popular podcast now he still has a love for cars. One of the most notable cars that he owns is Rogan’s Corvette C2 Stingray Restomod. The metal look of the car and the paint job give it that Madd Maxx looks that you’d expect. The rims are very high-end and extremely rare, which in the case of this car do it justice. You’d almost think that this particular Corvette is a giant-sized Hot Wheels car because of its unique look.

Rogan has quite a collection of cars but this particular model was a personal project that he wanted to complete. With his friend and co-radio host Adam Corolla, the Corvette came out as one of the most unique models around. You’ll seldom find a vehicle as unique as Rogan’s Corvette C2 Stingray Restomod.
