Cars That Celebrities Ruined With Over-The-Top Modifications

Celebrities are some of the most photogenic people when it comes to both their own looks and their cars. But time and again, we’ve seen celebrities who took things too far. For example, look at Hulk Hogan and his over-the-top red and yellow Dodge Viper. The otherwise excellent car was just hideous to look at.

Or maybe you remember the time that Justin Bieber wrapped his ride in chrome. Neither of these rides looked like anything that a sane person would drive. Many car fans would say goes along with the celebrity mindset, and that stars have ruined many a great car. So we took a look back at great cars that were shamefully ruined by celebrity drivers right here.

20: Deadmau5 – Ferrari 458

The music business is one of the most profitable ventures around, and music stars seemingly become ultra-rich overnight. Being rich means that you’ll spend a ton of money on things that you don’t need, hence this sorry excuse for a Ferrari 458. Deadmau5 has gone all out to make this car look as obscene as possible.

The Ferrari 458 is one of the most iconic and well-received modern exotic cars on the road. Where the music star went wrong was by thinking that this Ferrari looked cool because it did not. The paint scheme is far from anything that any true Ferrari enthusiast would want to see on a sports car of this caliber.

19: Khloe Kardashian – Land Rover Range Rover

The Kardashians have quite the collection of vehicles, and Khloe is no stranger to the custom car scene. Her classic Camaro is often seen driving the streets of Beverly Hills, but it’s her Range Rover that has raised eyebrows. The suede paint job is about as weird as you can get, and we can’t figure out why she’d want to do this to such an elite SUV.

The black velvet wrap is not only hard to maintain but greatly devalues the Range Rover. The SUV can never be taken to a car wash and maintenance will be almost impossible with this wrap. It has also been said that certain vehicle wraps will damage the paint underneath as well, which is why wraps should generally be avoided.

18: David James – Reliant Robin

James is one of the most famous soccer players in the world and for good reason. He’s won several championship. When it came to his 2010 championship win, he commissioned a special-edition car to celebrate. The Reliant Robin was created as sort of a miniature tour bus.

The first car was connected to the back hatch of a donor car, creating a five-wheel freakshow. We’re not sure why James would waste such a great amount of money on this custom ride. The design isn’t appealing to anyone who has an ounce of sense, but it is one of the most odd-looking cars on the road.

17: Justin Bieber – Audi R8

Bieber is one of the best and most popular pop stars on the planet, so it’s no surprise he can be a bit outlandish. What we have here is an example of Hollywood rubbing off on the singer with his leopard print Audi R8. Anyone who knows anything about exotic sports cars will know that the R8 is one of the rarest and most powerful models.

Although the R8 is a serious track car, we doubt anyone would take it seriously with this type of a wrap. Bieber has been known to have some strange cars in the past and this particular R8 is no different. It’s just sad to see such an impressive sports car be put to such shame by a weird design.

16: Jake Paul – Ford Focus

Paul has been on a roll lately as he attempts to establish himself as one of the most dominant forces in the online influencer and combat sports worlds. His Ford Focus is evidence of that as he went to West Coast Customs to have an odd-looking paint scheme. The custom wing and the rally wheels add to the over-the-top look of the car. Nothing is appealing about this Focus, and don’t know what he was thinking.

The Focus in general is a car that has gotten a lot of flack in the last decade for its design. So why someone would saddle the poor car with this kind of trash art is beyond us. It appears that Paul has gotten so infatuated with his self-image that he will drive just about anything to get a ton of media attention.

15: Will. I.Am – VW Beetle

Will. I.Am is certainly a unique individual, so his taste in automobiles is likely going to be different than most. But when the well-known producer took a Volkswagen Beetle and turned it into a Frankenstein, it was just too much to bear. Taking one look at this monstrosity of a vehicle will make you wish that it was a standard Beetle.

The car looks like a Plymouth Prowler that has gone wrong, and that isn’t a compliment. From a design standpoint, there isn’t much that you can do with the Beetle anyway. But doing something like this to the lowly little Volkswagen isn’t the smartest move either. Will. I.Am makes great music but his taste in vehicle customization is questionable at best.

14: Zach Randolph – Chevrolet Impala

With Zach Randolph’s popularity comes a nice collection of cars. But Randolph’s Chevy Impala is one car he should keep in the garage as the design is hideous. Riding atop a set of bright orange rims this Impala is anything but a stock classic. From the tan leather interior to the suede accents, everything about this car screams “show off.”

The Impala in general is a car historically known for lowriding and performance, and the donk scene is still a new thing. We can’t figure out why Randolph would want to ruin such a nice classic like this Impala. He has said in interviews that this car was one of his favorite projects and we are going to have to take a pass.

13: Juan Uribe – Porsche Cayenne

Baseball stars make a massive amount of cheese, but what Juan Uribe did to his is almost unquestionable. The poor car has suffered from several bad modifications, the first of which is this hideous front bumper that’s pictured below.

The Cayenne is the favorite of rappers and anyone who wants to look rich. Before Lamborghini was in the mix, the Cayenne was the first exotic SUV. Performance out of this car is still astonishingly fast, even with all of the junk modifications that have been done to it. We can only hope that Uribe will have a better taste when he upgrades.

12: Hulk Hogan – Dodge Viper

Hulk Hogan has always been known for his impressive car collection, and the Viper is one of the most well-known. He showcased this car when he signed his contract with WCW in a street parade and since then, has driven it sporadically. We’re not fans of the ketchup-and-mustard design which pretty much devalued the entire car.

The first generation of the Dodge Viper was a bare-bones performance car. Taking away from the performance-focused design of the car with a clown-colored paint job isn’t a good look. Hogan has had many unique vehicles but this Viper takes the cake for being the most over-the-top example.

11: Darren McFadden – Buick Centurion

Another Donk car on this lisrt is Darren Mcfadden’s Buick Centurion. The Centurion is not the first nameplate that comes to mind when you think of custom rides. But it offers a stellar amount of luxury and performance for the price. At least it did before it was turned into the monstrosity that we see pictured above.

From the “Barney” purple paint job to the bright green oversized rims, you just don’t know where to start. The design is truly over the top in every aspect, and driving a donk doesn’t make you look cool. The sports start could have saved his money and went for an engine upgrade or such but instead got this.

10: Chris Brown – Lamborghini Aventador

As someone who has never been shy about his personal life or his vehicles, Chris Brown created one ugly Lambo. The Aventador is perhaps the finest Lamborghini product to come out of the last decade, but instead, this version has a hideous paint scheme. On top of that, he continued the awful modifications on the inside with camo-inspired interior.

The wheels were powder coated to match the paint job, and one scuff will put these rims on the bench. Brown went for what he perceived as a great-looking car then ruined it with modifications that are over the top. Truly this Aventador is going to belong in the junkyard faster than you can sing Chris Brown’s singles.

9: Snooki – Cadillac Escalade

‘Jersey Shore’ stablemate Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzo was more conservative when it came to her pimped-out ride. Her Cadillac Escalade EXT is decked out in flat black paint with pink accents and a notable set of rims. The color scheme is still hideous but at least it isn’t over-the-top like other rides in this list.

Just when you thought she had some sense, she stuck a cheap “boss lady” decal on the back. On top of this, there is a Kello Kitty sticker in the back window, which makes no sense if you follow Snooki in general. Overall, this is probably one of the ugliest Escalades on the road and we hope she had the sense to upgrade.

8: Sonny & Cher – Ford Mustangs

Perhaps two of the most well-known musicians in history, Sonny and Cher made mistakes with cars too. Even before the era of ‘Pimp My Ride,’ these power couple had a pair of custom Mustangs that were painted in hideous colors. The original Mustang was such a great-looking car that defouling it is nearly unthinkable.

As you can see by the pictures, there were other mods to the Mustangs as well. A new pair of headlights and custom wheels are some of the most obvious modifications. Luckily, Cher grew out of that phase. This is a sad tale of a Mustang that could look great without this paint job.

7: Marshawn Lynch – Jeep Wrangler

If you’ve heard the term “Beast Mode” then you probably remember Marshawn Lynch rumbling to some monstrous touchdowns in the NFL a few years ago. His Jeep Wrangler is far from being the normal ride of a football star. Instead of featuring several hideous modifications that start with the obscene paint job and the horrible pushbar installed on the front of the vehicle.

Don’t even get us started on the green rims, which have no intrinsic value to the design of the car. Everyone wants to customize a Jeep Wrangler nowadays but it’s sad to see one like this one being so defouled. There are much better designs that Lynch could have gone with that would look better and cost less.

6: Stephen Ireland – Bentley Continental

Ireland is another famous footballer from overseas, and with all that fame comes a unique fleet of cars. But his Bentley Continental looks like “The Fast and the Furious” gone bad. The obscene body kits do nothing for the car but make it look stupid. Then you have a cheap set of wheels that also look out of place on the expensive exotic car.

Bentley is a brand that’s usually equated with luxury and opulence. When you devalue a car like this, the entire image takes a hit. Ireland could have done several mods to his car that would improve the performance and the looks. Instead, he chose to build an over-the-top go-kart for adults and the laughingstock of the Bentley world.

5: Nicki Minaj – Lamborghini Aventador

Minaj is another one that let the fame get to her head by building a Lamborghini that looks like an ice cream cone. The bright pink paint job stands out and if that wasn’t enough she also has a set of pink Forgiato rims. The entire design of this Lamborghini is loud and lavish and does nothing for the value of the car.

You’d think that someone who had the kind of resources that Minaj has would put a bit more effort into her ride. The Aventador is a great car in every sense of the word, but for the most part, you can’t get over the look of hers. The bright pink paint job and the wheels just do nothing to set the car apart in a positive way.

4: Paris Hilton – Bentley Continental

Hilton was one of the first celebrities to own an over-the-top modified car. She owned the original Pink Bentley Continental, one of the hottest cars at the time. The bright pink paint job looked like a Barbie toy taken to a new level. On top of that, the wheels were also quite hideous and did nothing for the car.

But Paris took things a step further and had a diamond-encrusted shifter installed as well. This was surely the start of the “bling-bling” era and we can’t get over how ugly the car is. Hilton still drives a pink Bentley to this day, albeit one of the newer models and we’ve heard that there is no diamond shifter this time.

3: Justin Bieber – Cadillac CTS-V

As if Bieber’s last car wasn’t bad enough to look at, he also owns a CTS-V. The Cadillac CTS-V has experienced a fall from grace in the last decade, going from a hot rod to a car that no one wants. But apparently, Bieber figured he was going to make a custom one and had a flat black painted two-door.

Aside from the ugly paint job or wrap, the car is fairly stock and if you know about the CTS-V then you know that the car is a shadow of itself. There was a time when the CTS-V was one of the funniest to drive cars on the road. Nowadays it is just an appearance package that GM slaps on the remaining Cadillac sedan models.

2: Josh Gordon – Porsche Panamera

Unafraid to take things to the extreme, Josh Gordon drives an awful-looking Porsche Panamera. Camo used to be in style but nowadays painting a car with a camo style is just outlandish, ask Chris Brown. This particular Panamera topped things off with a set of bright orange wheels, which also do nothing for the car.

The style of the Panamera is a bit over the top anyway, so to see it look like this is a little bit too much. Porsche had hoped to entice buyers who wanted a Porsche but also needed the extra passenger space. It’s sad to see a unique car like the Panamera turn out like the hideous ride that we see above.

1: LeBron James – Lamborghini Aventador

‘King James’ has been a leading player for almost two decades now. His taste in cars ranges from the team that he is playing on, and more recently James has that L.A. vibe. James has a Lamborghini Aventador that he turned into what looks like a rolling Nike advertisement. The car is flashy, to say the least, but the wrap just looked downright ugly.

We’re sure that there could have been a better choice for a vehicle wrap than this. Another celebrity chose to ruin the beautiful stock looks of the Aventador. The Lamborghini sports car can’t seem to catch a break with celebrities who want to go over the top. James is an excellent basketball player but this choice in cars is simply questionable.
