The region that surrounds Sacramento is a huge area leading all the way up to South Lake Tahoe. Whether it’s summertime or wintertime, you’ll want to visit this winding highway that leads everywhere in between. Along the way, there are plenty of restaurants and shopping to choose from which include the Folsom outlets and the Roseville Galleria. During the winter months, the snow can get deep so you’ll need snow chains to drive safely.

Whether you are brand-new to this area or you’re visiting from out of state, the drive to Placer County is a memorable one. There is plenty to see and visit and you’ll generally enjoy your experience with this laid-back part of the state. Just the close proximity to South Lake Tahoe alone makes this drive well worth it. You’ll have access to the ski slopes and nearby casinos such as Harrah’s.
