The SLX is a luxury sedan that not many people even know existed. You see, when the SUV segment was heating up in the 1990s, there started to be an appetite for a premium offering. Lexus introduced the LX450, and consumers were impressed with what a premium SUV felt like. Suddenly, every family in America wanted to own a leather-wrapped off-road beast. The folks at Honda could not develop an SUV and bring it to market that fast, and the company already had a partnership with Isuzu at the time. The SLX shared its platform and body with the Isuzu Trooper and was fully-loaded. There were many luxury appointments and the truck had a slightly more attractive look.
