The folks at Honda could not develop an SUV and bring it to market that fast, and the company already had a partnership with Isuzu at the time. The SLX shared its platform and body with the Isuzu Trooper and was fully-loaded. There were many luxury appointments and the truck had a slightly more attractive look.
