17: Toyota MR2 Spyder
The MR2 Spyder was the final incarnation of the MR2 that came during the 2000s. The car was strikingly modern and offered a great deal of performance. The car isn’t as extreme looking as the MR2 models that came before it. This was more or less a modern convertible model that consumers could get behind. The car was still mid-engined, which was a unique feature at the time (via Car & Driver).

This version of the MR2 competed directly with the Honda S2000. Both cars had unique attributes, but the MR2 Spyder was perhaps the most unique model at the time. You’ll seldom see one of these on the road anymore because production numbers were limited. But for the price, you can’t beat the authentic mid-engined performance and Toyota reliability coupled into one car.
