Believe it or not, there was a time when cars didn’t come with an armrest. Most vehicles have a bench seat, and thus an armrest was useless. But as automakers moved away from the traditional six passenger seating arrangement, most cars got an armrest. This was a great feature when you were on a long drive (via CarBuzz).

Comfort is one of the most important things that you look at in a car. With the armrest, the comfort of our modern vehicles has changed tremendously. It’s hard to imagine that there was a time when we had to drive without the comfort of having an armrest by our side.
