47: 1969 Chevrolet AstroVette
If you are a diehard GM enthusiast then you’ve probably seen just about every Corvette model produced. But you probably haven’t seen the 1969 Chevrolet AstroVette, a rare version of the Corvette that only yielded three models. What made the AstroVette unique was the unique model that was specifically produced for astronaut Alan Bean. GM promised that he would have a Corvette model every year for the rest of his life at the cost of $1. There were only three of these models ever produced which is one of the reasons that it has been forgotten.
With the 390-hp, 427 Turbo-Jet V-8 the AstroVette could perform with the best of them. The unique two-tone paint job was among one of the most unique features of the car. Finding one of these AstroVette models is not going to be an easy task. You might not ever see one in person in your lifetime, but the unique design makes it an appealing Corvette model. The AstroVette will go down in history as one of the most unique Corvette models on the road.
