10. Lamborghini Urus

Remember the Lamborghini LM002 featured first on this list? A full 35 years later, there is another crazy fast, sublimely expensive performance SUV from Bologna in the form of the newly introduced Urus. You might be surprised to find that Bentley Bentayga and Urus have a lot in common in terms of mechanics and chassis architecture. That’s because Lamborghini and Bentley are both owned by Volkswagen.

But these two models are clearly different in many ways, including styling, performance and market niche. However, the Urus is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 with 641 HP and it is somewhat lower and lighter than the Bentayga. This means that the Urus can reach 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds, topping 190 mph. But you’d better bring your checkbook since the price is over $230,000.

11. Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

Do you want to go 180 mph and get to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds in an SUV? Perhaps you don’t have $200,000 plus to spend on an exotic car with space for five people and their luggage. Don’t worry, because we have just the car for you. Do you remember the Grand Cherokee SRT that delivered 475 HP?

Jeep recently introduced an even crazier version powered by a 707 HP supercharged Hemi from the Dodge Challenger Hellcat. The new Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is the SUV version of the Challenger Hellcat. It comes with all important features like the engine and transmission perfectly transplanted into an SUV body.

Also, they upgraded the suspension and braking, but the rest is the same. The car is one of the most capable SUVs on the market. It goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and best of all is the $85,000 price tag. That is a third of what a Lamborghini Urus costs. But best of all, you get more space and more power.

12. Audi SQ7

The Q7 luxury SUV is one of the best products that Audi sells in America. It looks like the company perfectly understood the need for a big, fast, comfortable cruiser, so Q7s are as popular there as in Europe. However, for performance-oriented buyers, Audi offers the SQ7, a 435 HP-powered luxury locomotive on wheels.

However, this model barely made this list since it has the exact same power as the benchmark Mustang GT 5.0. The SQ7 packs all the possible luxury items along with the mighty 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. This is the same engine as in the Bentayga or Urus, but they detuned it to 435 HP.

Perhaps Audi felt pressured to keep the power level down, so other Volkswagen models could use the full potential of this powerful unit. However, despite a drop in power, the SQ7 is capable enough to find itself on this list. The 0 to 60 mph time is achievable in just five seconds and the base price is close to $100,000.

13. Mercedes GLC 63 S

This strange SUV that Mercedes makes looks a lot like the BMW X6 is the GLC-Class. It is a vision of a coupe SUV with a big performance portfolio. For European buyers, Mercedes offers this strange car in the AMG version with 510 HP. Although it isn’t available in America yet, just look at the numbers.

The 4.0-liter bi-turbo engine from AMG GTR delivers 510 HP to all four wheels over its intelligent AWD system and nine-speed automatic transmission. The 0 to 60 mph time is 3.7 seconds and they’ve electronically controlled the top speed at 155 mph. With a base price of over $100,000, it is expensive, but those wealthy buyers will line up to buy it.

14. Range Rover Sport SVR

As the defining car of the SUV segment, the Range Rover couldn’t sit still and watch as other cars stole its thunder. So, they introduced the mighty Sport SVR. With a heavily supercharged 5.0-liter V8, a host of chassis, suspension and braking modifications and unique trim details, the SVR is a true performance SUV beast.

They mated the 575 HP engine to an eight-speed automatic transmission capable of propelling this heavy wagon to a 4.3 second 0 to 60 mph time. Also, it gets up to 176 mph at its top speed. This is mighty fast but not as fast as some of the competitors. If the Range Rover lost a little weight, it would be the fastest since the Sport SVR weighs over 5,000 pounds.

15. Dodge Durango SRT

Do you need a 4.4 second 0 to 60 mph SUV with 475 HP and the ability to carry seven passengers? How about a small school bus for when your kids are late for school and you need to get them there in a hurry. If that’s the case, then you need a Dodge Durango SRT. With 6.4-liter Hemi and 475 HP, this is a pure Dodge muscle car in an SUV package.

In contrast to the other vehicles on this list, which are mostly useless as real SUVs, the Dodge is quite capable. Not only it is among the biggest and has three-row seating, but it can also carry and tow the biggest loads, too. And that makes it practical and usable. But best of all is the price since it starts at just $64,000.

16. Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio

Until Ferrari makes an SUV, this is the closest thing they’ve got, which is the new Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio. With a 2.9-liter turbocharged V6 engine they derived from Ferrari’s turbo V8, this is a prime example of Italian charm with brutal power in the SUV class. The new Stelvio is an important model for the factory, especially on the American market.

This is a mid-size SUV, but in Quadrifoglio trim, it is a sports car. The turbo V6 produces 505 HP. And with its 50/50 weight distribution, perfectly tuned suspension, quick gearbox, and surge brakes, the Stelvio is one SUV missile. The 0 to 60 time is just 3.9 seconds and the top speed is a lofty 177 mph. The car will be for sale soon at a base price of over $100,000.

These are the 16 family haulers with more power than the Mustang GT. If you are in the market for an SUV that can haul and go fast, one of these should fill the bill. And best yet, they come in a variety of price ranges, so you should be able to find one you can afford.
