The Shelby Cobra is one of the most coveted classics on the road, and Allen has owned one since the ’90s. When you think about a quintessential example of what a roadster should be, the Cobra is the first thing that comes to mind. What makes the Shelby great is the ultra-lightweight design and powerful V8 engine. Ford engineers went all out in creating a one-of-a-kind roadster and Carroll Shelby put his stamp of approval on it.
The Cobra has been mimicked and you can even buy one as a kit car for the Toyota MR2. Allen has one of the original models, which makes his Cobra an increasingly rare proposition.
Allen featured a majority of his classic cars on “Home Improvement.” The Ford Roadster has prominently featured in quite a few seasons as the classic car that “Tim the Tool Man” would work on. The Ford Roadster itself is one of the most well-known hot rods on the road. The platform is easily modifiable and you can build on it with many enhancements.
Allen’s Ford Roadster has a slick black paint job which is only amplified by the unique pair of wheels the star has chosen. The Ford Roadster is most prominently featured at the Hot August Nights car show that takes place in Reno, NV.
When you think about the 1968 Camaro, there are a few special-edition models that come to mind. First is the Yenko and then there is the COPO, the latter of which Allen owns. The COPO Camaro was a special-edition package and was offered in limited quantities. The factory supercharger gave the Camaro a beastly amount of performance compared to other muscle cars on the market at the time. Allen has kept his COPO Camaro fairly stock, which is what most owners prefer.
The COPO Camaro is definitely a standout model for a number of reasons. Muscle car fans can’t go wrong with the unique styling. The value of this Camaro package has continued to rise. As of today, these Camaros can fetch upwards of 80K at auction.

But there’s also another Cobra in his collection. The Cobra S/C is the supercharged variant of the popular roadster, and Allen owns a beautiful white example that’s all original.
When you drive the Cobra, the car grips the road like a true race car. Allen went a step further and lowered his Cobra in addition to adding a great pair of aftermarket rims.
There was a time when Cadillac was the pinnacle of luxury and automakers coveted the Cadillac’s reputation for quality. Allen has a special place in his heart for Cadillac models. The 60 Series he has in his collection has a factory one-owner paint job, but don’t let that stop you. There’s also the one-of-a-kind fully restored engine that gives this Cadillac more oomph than other models on the road.
Allen likes to keep his cars pretty much stock so there isn’t too much to talk about here. But this Cadillac 60 Series really took the bar a step further in terms of luxury back in its heyday. The 60 Series is among the highest money grabbers at auction.
The 409 Bel Air was the defining car of a generation. So it’s not surprising that when Allen’s career began to take off, he decided to get one for himself. Allen’s Bel Air is in factory condition with minimal modifications except to the interior to make the car more comfortable. The LS-swapped engine makes this Bel Air the ultimate sleeper.
Values on these Bel Airs continue to go through the roof, so there’s no denying the fact that time is sitting on something pretty special here. In contrast to the other cars in his collection, the 409 Bel Air probably has the most meaning behind it.
Allen is a big domestic car guy, but there are some standout import pieces in his collection as well. The VW Karmann Ghia is a unique offering that has a one-of-a-kind look to it. During the latter part of the ’60s and ’70s, Volkswagen was on a decline. The popularity of the Beetle and the Bus had changed and consumers were hungry for something more. VW hoped that the Karmann Ghia would resonate with younger buyers.
But the car became somewhat of a novelty as years continued to progress. That’s not to say that the Karmann Ghia is a bad car; in fact, it’s actually one of the most satisfying VWs to drive. The car also had a close resemblance to many Porsche models hitting the market around the time as well.
The Porsche Carrera GT is one of the most well-known exotic cars on the road right now. Allen owns an all-original one and actually drives it quite often. The car is most constantly spotted at the Pixar movie studio where Allen is featured in films such as Toy Story. The Carrera GT is one of the fastest production Porches to hit the road, and you’ll notice the exterior design is quite different.
Even with the bad reputation behind it, the Carrera GT is a solid exotic car. It’s a no-frills design that brings a good deal of performance coupled with the prestige that comes with owning a Porsche.
Allen doesn’t just stick to one brand or make, which means his collection is quite diverse. The Ford Customline was one of the company’s first mainstream family sedans during the 1950s. It had a no-nonsense design, which was a hit with growing families at the time. Like most of the cars from this era, it has a V8 engine. Allen has since swapped his out for an SVT performance motor.
Perhaps most intriguing is the fact that Allen kept the original pearlescent pink paint job on the car. The actor likes to look back on simpler times, and you’ll notice that his collection is filled with no-frills vehicles. The Ford Customline was the precursor for an entire generation of Ford family sedans you see to this day.
As the Tesla Cybertruck gears up to hit the market next year, it’s hard to believe that just a few short decades ago trucks were far simpler creatures. Ford is among one the innovators of the pickup truck market and their original consumer pickup truck was the F-100. This was the truck that birthed the extreme F-150 Raptor. Allen has an all-original version which began its life as a farm truck.
But a frame-off restoration has made the truck something to look at. Beautiful paint and an SVT performance crate motor give the truck a scary amount of power. Then you have other modern comforts such as A/C and a modern in-dash stereo system for those days at the car shows.
If you’ve watched the movie, ‘Back To The Future,’ then you’ll know that there was another influential car beside the DeLorean. That was the 1946 Ford Convertible that was driven by Biff when Michael J. Fox went back in time. And of course, a kid from this time period happens to own one as well, and that’s Allen. He has a pretty pristine version of the car, down to the factory motor and transmission.
Keeping one of these in its original order is important because the value has gone up in recent years. The 1946 Ford Convertible stands out from the crowd for a number of reasons. The most obvious is the fact that it was one of the first mass-market convertibles offered by a domestic automaker.
Allen is the proud owner of one of these unique roadsters just like Jay Leno. This isn’t a classic vehicle, but rather a special-order roadster that builds on vehicle design of the past. Allen has a beautiful forest green example that has gotten him quite a few stares.

Allen portrays a hardline conservative on his latest TV show, but in reality, he has many noble causes. One such cause is his fight for the environment. As electric cars become more well-known, Allen will continue to add them to his collection. The most recent offering has been the Chevy Volt, which was the failed second attempt at an all-electric car by GM. The Volt wasn’t a bad car by any means, but consumers just failed to mesh with it.
You get the benefits of a gas and electric engine, but the car was bland other than that. Still, Allen is proud to drive his Chevy Volt around L.A. and to the studio. The Volt was a great attempt and managed to sell in respectable numbers. Now, GM offers the Bolt, with is an all-electric hatchback similar to the Nissan Leaf.
Allen is a horsepower guy at the end of the day, and he loves Detroit muscle. The 1964 Chevelle is about as muscular as you can get in a performance car, and Allen has a beautiful example sitting in his garage. With its powerful 454 V8 engine, the Chevelle meant business on the track and on the street. You’ll know that this car is able to handle just about anything when you get behind the wheel of it. Allen has kept his version mostly stock.
The values of these Chevelles are going to continue to rise, so it’s no wonder Allen has held onto his for so long. The Toolman knows a good deal when he sees one, and the Chevelle will continue to be a legend in the performance community.
Allen has one rare Volkswagen in his collection already, but that air-cooled German motor just wasn’t enough to satisfy the tool man so he created a beast. The Herbie-inspired bug is powered by a massive big-block V8 motor. How is that possible? Well, it took a good deal of fabrication and a brand-new transmission to get the job done. The coolest part of this unique muscle car is that it’s completely street-legal.
Allen has shown off his beastly bug on many automotive TV shows and it continues to be a hit. Of course, Allen is the only man on earth who could create one of these things and have it look as cool as this one. The V8-powered bug is one of many that continued to innovate on the Beetle.
Allen is not the only celebrity who ran out to purchase one of these things. Jay Leno owns one and so does Hulk Hogan. The Demon was a publicity stunt by Dodge to inject some life into the decade-old pony car. It worked, as the Dodge Demon is one of the most talked-about variants of the Dodge Challenger.
Allen has actually kept his close-to-stock stock with a beautiful red paint scheme and black leather interior. The Demon is one of the priciest Challengers to hit the road, and Allen enjoys driving his. When it comes to modern Mopar muscle, the Demon is at the top of the food chain right now.
Allen is a Chevy man even though he has quite a few Fords in his collection. The Corvette ZR1 stands out because of its supercharged motor. When the C6 Corvette was on its way out the company wanted to inject some life into it. What we got was the ZR1, and Allen was one of the first owners. The black and yellow paint scheme make the car a very intimidating foe.
The Corvette has been a legend in the performance community for some time now. The ZR1 continues to be a highly-coveted model. Allen has kept his very stock. You won’t find any aftermarket wheels; instead, you’ll see a beautiful example of GM history.
The Toolman is not shy in proclaiming his love for all things automotive, and there’s one automobile that came out at the crack of the new millennium that deserves attention. The S2000 was the first roadster of its kind from Honda, a far cry from the lackluster Del Sol of the ’90s. The S2000 is a no-frills roadster that’s built to drive, and the values of these cars have continued to skyrocket.
Honda didn’t do anything out of the ordinary with the S2000. It was a well-designed car that can handle whatever you throw at it. Allen has a bright yellow one, which was one of the most popular colors for the S2000.
Is it any surprise that Allen has another Corvette tucked away? This one isn’t just a car that you pull out for any occasion. The 1963 Corvette is one of the most highly-coveted models as well as one of the most rewarding to drive. Allen has an original factory paint job on his, which is partly why he loves it so much. This was the car that birthed the original roadster movement and led us to the Corvette that we see today.
Allen hasn’t done anything too extreme to him during the time that he has owned it. With a car like this, you really don’t want to take away from its original look and feel. Allen is one lucky guy to have two of these beauties in his garage in a real nod to Corvette enthusiasts.
One of the most iconic super trucks to hit the road during the ’90s, the 454 SS was black and mean. This truck was part of the GM performance renaissance during this time and featured a powerful V8 engine crammed into a rear-wheel-drive design. The 454 SS was magic through and through, with a beautiful exterior and a sharp red interior.
Allen has done a few things to supercharge it and add an aftermarket exhaust. There is actually little that needs to be done to the 454 because it’s such a bulletproof engine. The 454 SS was later revived during the 2000s as the Intimidator SS. Chevy performance trucks come along from time to time and the 454 SS is a prime example of a better time for the pickup truck market.
The Intimidator SS is a truck that was released for the 2003 model year, and it featured badging from Tony Stewart, who drove for Chevy. The Intimidator SS builds on the Vortec Max and adds a supercharger to the mix. Initially, the truck was only available in an AWD configuration but complaints from drivers lead to the RWD version of the truck. The supercharged Silverado is not only beautiful to look at but also a blast to drive.
This truck compared to the Ford Lightning and gave it a serious run for its money. The Intimidator SS will go down as one of the best trucks of the last decade, and Allen owns an all-original one. As of right now, Allen’s Silverado SS remains stock.
There is one car that just about every gearhead from Michigan is in love with. That’s the Buick Grand National. We’re not sure what GM was thinking during this time period, but the company took to supercharging the GM G-Body car with a powerful V6 and blacking the entire thing out. This was a limited-production vehicle, and nowadays these cars are highly coveted in the used car market.
Allen has a completely stock version in almost new condition, which will make most Buick enthusiasts foam at the mouth. While a lot of owners will either upgrade the engine or do an LS Swap, Allen left his Grand National alone. It’s important to note that Allen doesn’t own the GNX, which is even more highly sought-after.
