20 Cars Ford Probably Regrets Making

When you think of iconic carmakers, you probably think of the Ford Motor Company. There hasn’t been a carmaker that has come up with as many iconic vehicles as Ford has in the past 100 years. What makes the brand so iconic? Cars like the Model T, the Mustang, and even the Taurus. But like with any great company, there have been quite a few blunders as well. Ford is not above making mistakes and the company has managed to learn from those mistakes.

Every automaker is going to create vehicles that people might not like, and Ford is not above this rule. There have been failures that we’ll never forget such as the Pinto-powered Mustang. But the company also has redeeming qualities and still manages to be one of the top automakers in the world today. Naturally, creating a car that no one likes is something that no automaker wants to do, but it happens. With sales slumping every year, there are bound to be cars that sit on dealership lots for way too long. We are going to be taking a look at 20 such cars and trucks that Ford regrets making.

20. Ford Pinto

Where to start with the Pinto? The Pinto is the Ford that got the company sued for millions of dollars and looked ugly doing it. So where did the company go wrong with this hideous creation? The problem with the Pinto was the location of the rear fuel tank. When the vehicle was in a rear-end collision, it would catch fire and explode. This created not only a problem for the Ford Motor Company but also all the injured consumers.

The Pinto was quickly shelved and put on the backburner, which hurt Ford’s sales tremendously. Although this was around the period of the fuel crisis and new models were coming over from Japan, the Pinto was a mistake. Ford probably regrets making the Pinto and creating the lackluster reputation it has today.
