16: There Won’t Be A Stick
The days of the Mustang having a clutch are coming to an end. Of course, the Mach-E isn’t a performance-based model. But it’s still nice to know that there will be a Mustang coupe around in case you want performance. Ford has said that it is slowly doing away with stick shifts just like other automakers are. So it’s easy to see why the Mach-E isn’t going to have a stick shift either. The transmission you’ll find in the Mach-E is going to be a very focused form of Ford’s current CVT system. This transmission is more suitable for the urban commuter than downright performance.

We do have to wonder if the Mach-E will live up to its Mustang heritage and offer any type of performance. When you buy a Mustang you have a certain expectation. The Mach-E, of course, has a different purpose entirely. We can see that the Mach-E is geared toward the environmentally-conscious consumer. You still want the ability to play and enjoy the outdoors but you don’t want a gas-guzzling SUV. The advent of the Mach-E presents a new type of option that will resonate with a younger demographic. Most of us who came up when the Mustang was popular will enjoy seeing the nameplate on an SUV.
