Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport
By the early ‘60s, the Corvette has already proven itself on the market, and now it was time to prove itself on the race track. So, Zora Arkus-Duntov and his team prepared five Grand Sport Corvettes. They gave them modified bodies, special suspensions, fully loaded race engines and a host of other specially built components.
The Grand Sport Corvette produced over 550 HP and was capable of a brutal performance. The Corvette team had big plans to enter the Grand Sport Corvettes in several races. They had mixed success when the decision from the top at General Motors stopped all racing activities. And, until this day, the story about the Corvette Grand Sports is one of the greatest “What ifs” of motorsports.
