10. Chevrolet Corvette Gran Sport
The Chevrolet Corvette always was a benchmark performance car that delivered amazing power at affordable prices. Although the Corvette is not exactly budget-friendly, it is less expensive than the Porsche 911 and other European sports cars. But the lower price doesn’t mean the Corvette is less of a car. That’s quite the contrary since the new Gran Sport model is the perfect example.
That is why it is featured on this list, but we left out its archenemy, the 911 simply because it is too expensive. But Chevrolet realized the Z06 was too much to handle for some buyers. And despite its fantastic looks and brutal performance, the car was close to the limits of a front engine/rear-wheel drive configuration with little or no space for improvement.
That is why they made an interesting hybrid model that proved to be one of the best Corvettes they ever made: the 2017 Grand Sport. They named it after the ill-fated racing Vettes from the early ’60s, giving the modern Grand Sport a 460 HP engine from a regular Corvette.
It also comes with a wide body and track from the Z06 version. This combination proved to be the winning formula. The Grand Sport has normal handling and driving dynamics they improved with a wider stance while retaining the dramatic looks of the Z06.
